Took my small Spoonbill sculpture back to where it all began — the Wynnum Wetlands, where I first spotted these elegant, slightly awkward birds in the wild.

It felt like a bit of magic to return, sculpture in hand and to see real Spoonbills feeding and preening right there alongside it!

✨ Shaping & Drying – Clay is sculpted and left to dry completely.
🔥 Bisque Firing – The first kiln firing transforms the raw clay into a porous, durable ceramic.
🎨 Glazing – Each piece is coated with glaze to add color, texture, and protection.

I've found so much inspiration in the ever-changing biodiversity just outside our window. Over the last few months, we let the garden get a little overgrown, and what happened was pure magic – a sudden influx of wildlife! The garden came alive, and with it, a newfound appreciation for the beauty of letting nature take the lead🌱

Navigating Tokyo’s train system is no easy feat—information overload, I barely knew which direction to flap! But once I got up here, the view was absolutely incredible. Taking in the city from above was definitely worth the hustle. Now that I’ve found my way, I even treated myself to some vegan sushi to stick my beak into! 🍣🌱

Time flies, and we’re already in the second week of the "Birds by Hand" exhibition at Makers Gallery! I'm thrilled to see my bird sculptures nesting among such incredible pieces from other talented ceramic artists. My new series, *In My Shoes*, has been warmly received, and I’m so grateful for all the lovely comments and smiles!

If you haven’t had a chance to visit yet, don’t miss out! The exhibition runs until 31st August, with the gallery open by appointment Mon-Fri and from 1-4pm on Saturdays.
